Every year the Forest Service hires temporary employees in a variety of jobs, such as fire, trails, timber, recreation, fisheries, archeology, soils and botany. This year, the Pacific Northwest Region anticipates filling approximately 600 temporary positions. Temporary employees generally work from April to October depending on the type of position and the locations. Individuals interested in 2015 temporary employment can apply through www.usajobs.gov during three different time frames.
- Phase 1: January 6-12, 2015 This includes all temporary fire related positions, and some recreation, timber, trails, engineering, wildlife, fisheries, and botany jobs.
- Phase 2: February 4-10, 2015 This includes all non-fire related positions, and positions not addressed in Phase 1.
- Phase 3: March, 2015 This includes all positions that were not filled in Phase 1 or 2.
Applicants should select only those duty locations where they are willing to accept work.
